2000 cluster to 89 cluster help
Any ideas about getting a 2000 cluster operational output to an 89 diesel cluster? Vehicle is a complete ground up build, except I do not know pinout for signals from 2000 cluster (C+,C-,S+ and S-) and many appear paralled in their circuits. I cannot find a schematic of the 2000 cluster board although it appears like the gauges are simply balanced coils. To bad Helm/ Ford etc. do not have this information somewhere avalible? Any help would be extreamly appreciated! No Pats in harness, analog odometer and four lead tachs in both? We would truely like to reward someone if they have an idea of which leads should be used as signal wires to the 89 cluster from the output of the cluster PCB.
You're trying to put a 2000 cluster in an 89 from the sounds of it (not completely sure the way you worded it). I don't have an answer for you, but I would suggest going on Ebay and look for a Ford service CD. It will have complete electrical schematics and will most likely have what you're after. You can pick them up for under $20 if you shop.
I don't think you will be able to do it easily. I do know those computer controlled clusters even have trouble swapping in the same year/model trucks. Someone did do a 92-97 diesel cluster with a tach into a van that didn't have a tach over on thedieselstop however, so I guess it is possible.

2000 cluster to 1989 cluster
Thanks for the reply. Your right it will take some work. I'm trying to convince the other person to fabricate the whole cluster into his, since it seems that the gauges share signals on al teminals from the PCB along with the additional two connectors. If we use just the PCB, I'm not sure if the MIL light/ diagnostics wil work correctly, seeing the 2000 mustang had some diagnostics built thru the cluster circuits? If I left the bulbs out and rolled the plastic/mylar circuit up hey may not be completed? Tachs both look like four terminal, but 89 had a seperate tach pcb attached into it's circuit.
