I do not think you "need" to change them but it depends no your definition of need to change gears. I had 305/75's on the stock rims on my 2000 F-350 with 3.73's. I had no issues with the combination. I thought the truck looked real good with that size tire too.

Cool

THanx Ggg. I've gotten the answers to my ? from Wandell in another forum. By the way did you need a lift or get any tire rub with the 305's ?

I have been running 305/70/R16's on my stock rims for the last 8 years. Runs great and I did not have to change my gears...

I'm looking into 315/75/R16's for my 04. It has 4.10 gears and I'm getting some really crappy gas mileage. Like 10 mpg's. I'll switch back in the winter to my factory tires cause they are better in the snow and I want the torqe and power while plowing.

Switching to bigger tires should provide you with better gas mileage. Going to a 315 from a 265 will change MY ratio to about 3.80.

Shipkiller, You say you didn't have any problems with the bigger tires on stock rims. I just hopped on to find out if I could go bigger on stock rims. You still able to haul around a bed full o' crap with the bigger tires without much sidewall distortion?
