power folding mirrors

Anyone attempt to modify their telescoping mirrors so that they will fold-in and out with the touch of a button? If so, please show me the way.

I'd use the search for that. There's a few F150 folks talking about it in the 04 150 forum. I'd imagine it would be a similar install for the SD's.

It could be done, but its going to cost a good chunk of money. You'd be looking at an electric solenoid to move the mirror out and thats going to be the expensive part as the mirrors don't slide all that easy. I wouldn't be suprised to see the cost of this project hit $500 or more. I don't doubt it could be done, but the components aren't going to be cheap given the constraints of the project (force required and space available).

I don't like chevy's but the loaded up Tahoes have them as standard equipment on a memory button...so as the power seat gets in position so goes the mirrors. My caddy has that beat though. It moves the seat, the mirrors, preets the radio station and volume and sets the thermostat all from the key fob...just don't grab the wife's keys cause then it's crunch time!
Wish the truck had it as it gets tight going in the garage and mirrors that would fold in flat would be nice...come on Ford!

The '05 Expeditions/Navigator/ King Ranch F150s have the power folding mirror.
So Ford has already "come on".

Well that's good to hear. It only took them 2 years to catch up. Good thing we have competition among the big three

The Ford power folding mirrors cost $3000 - it's the King Ranch Package - GM's cost $200 for the power folding mirrors only - go figure.

I'm working on a power folding mirror package for my XLT will probably run $400- $500 installed [parts and labor]. I'm going to do it anyway because I really like my XLT but I don't like having to get out and fold the mirrors every time I put it in the garage.
