Question Suspension options

What are the differences between the camper, heavy service, and snow plow packages available on new SDs? Which would work best for helping level the front end of a V10 CC 250 4x4?

I am new to all of this - but maybe this will help. We ended up with the Hvy Service Suspension - simply because it was on the truck that we wanted. I am told it basically turns the truck into a 1 ton. It sits a bit higher all around.

From Ford.com

Heavy-Service Suspension Package $125.00
-Heavy Service Front Springs
-Auxiliary Rear Springs
-Steering Damper

Camper Package $160.00
-Heavy Service Front Springs
-Rear Stabilizer Bar

-Slide-in Camper Certification

4X4 Snow Plow Package (Restrictions apply; See your dealer) $70.00
-Highest Front GAWR Springs
(5200 lbs.)
-Auxiliary Rear Springs
-Steering Damper

The snowplow front suspension does not use 5200 lb springs. It uses the X spring package, which is rated at 6000 lbs. I got the information from the door of my truck.

Thumbs down

My 01 F-350 V-10 CC 4X4 with snow plow pkg. only had 4500 front springs. See "had" the X-springs are from a F-450/550 and are 6000lb. Make sure you get the new X-springs, if you are going to change to X-springs.

A buddy of mine has the 00 F-350 PSD CC 4X4 with snow kit and only "had" 5200lb. springs.

So, you never know what you will get from ford.

If you dont order a truck, look at the ones on a lot. Find the one that sets level

X-springs are under$100 each side.

Good Luck

Kevin

I ordered the snow plow pkg for the hvy duty stuff up front. Not much snow in Houston!

I did put a "Ranch Hand" grill guard on the front.

The truck sits level and appears "lifted". As a matter of fact, I've had several people ask me what kind of lift I had.
