Question K&N Filter and Air Flow Sensor

I was thinking about puting the K&N filer on my V10. I was told by the dealer that the K&N flows so mush better that it tears the wire of the Air flow sensor. Is this a true fact or was he feeding me full of crap to get me to buy his filter?

Thanks

AJ

Hi F350AJ,

Nope, that sounds like crappola to me. In all the years we've been using K&N air filters in every one of our vehicles, we've never seen or ever even heard of anything like this ever happening to anyone. I think you can safely dismiss that claim as hogwash, and enjoy your K&N air filter.

Also note. Ford / Motorcraft sells the same filter under the Motorcraft name. Take the accessories-performance catalog in to him and watch him stutter.

No problem with the "drop in" on my 98 EXPY and no problem with the Gen II on the truck. He is full of it.

What actually happens is the oil from the filter collects on the hot wire of the MAF and thus causes a bogus reading. But the MAF can be cleaned to cure this. It is true that it normally happens from over oiling
