Thumbs up Finally an answer from Ford on the noisy V10 issue..

I've got a buddy that is a service technician for Ford. I had him run the VIN# on my 2000 F-250. Among other small issues, here is what turned up:
Special Service Message 13519:
6.8L- California exhaust fluttersome 2000 Super Duty F-Series and Excursions
Engine and California emissions may exhibit an exhaust 'flutter' noise. This noise may also be described as an engine miss or exhaust leak and may be misdiagnosed as being caused by a single engine cylinder. This noise is caused by the location of the catalytic converter which causes a standing wave in the exhaust Y-pipe. This noise does not cause any driveability or durability issues. The replacement of exhaust parts or engine assemblies will not resolve this issue and is not recommended. Engineering is aware of the issue and service procedure is forthcoming.
I'm sure this could apply to more than just 2000 California V10s. Just thought you guys might want to know.
