Post Race 4.6 vs 5.4

I'm still comparing engines here before I order. I'm still completely undecided on the engine. I think I want the V10 for the power...I can't justify the costs of the PSD, but I'm trying to get a better idea of a 5.4 before I say for sure. Has anyone raced their 2000 260hp 5.4, 4x4, 4.10, 5speed, supercab against a 4.6 f-150 like mine described below? I'm trying to compare acceleration between the two. I'm thinking it would be a close race. If a chip, exhaust, and intake were added to the 5.4, would it definitely win?? I want something with some guts off the line, I know the v10 is the way to go, but I'm curious how close the 5.4 is to mine now. Thanks!

That's the problem I'm having! I can't find anyone with one to race me! This afternoon, I did go and drive the 5.4 with all the stuff I mentioned above. It was not nearly as bad as it has been made out to be. After driving it, I think that it could beat my 4.6, just barely, but it definitely has a chance. I need to find a V10 stick to drive and I'll be ready to decide. On another note, as I pulled out of the ford dealership, I had a newer suburban pull up next to me and he heard my flowmaster. Needless to say I had a race off the line! Wound it out to 90 before I hit the brakes for a regular speed trap. I had him by a car length at that point. He did almost take me though at around 55-60, then his shifted and I pulled away. Had I been completely ready off the line, I think I would have had him completely. Just thought I'd share!

If you were racing a F-150 with either the 4.6L or the 5.4L equilly equiped. The 5.4L would win(duh!), but you must realize that the Superduty weighs a lot more, and isn't as lighted footed as the Superduty. thats why its called a 3/4 and larger. It was/is designed to pull/haul more than the F-150

Pastmaster, that's exactly why I asked this question. I'm curious whether the weight of the superduty will offset the increase in power thus allowing the 150 4.6 to beat the 5.4 SD.

the 4.6 f-150 would beat a same cab 3/4ton v10. the xtra weight vs power is too much.

I'm not too sure about running the Ford V-8s, but I can say this much. The 5.7 Chevy is sure no match for a Y2K SD F-250 with a V-10. BTW, both were extended cab 4X4s too.
It was a joke from the start.
As far as the Ford 4.6, I had one in my 99 F-150 SC 4X4. The V-10 has quite a bit more performance.

Hi! some of you guys are not thinking clearly of what these trucks are built for. If you put 5,000 lbs behind each truck wich one do you think would pull it better up a 5% grade? The 4.6 the 5.4 the v10?

The 4.6 1/2 ton would do fair.
The 5.4 1/2 ton very good.
The 5.4 '99 super duty SLOW
The 2000 super duty 5.4 OK.
The v10 great with not much effort.
The Power Stroke wouldn't know it was there.

I passed a 4.6 supercab with dual exhaust going up I-70 up vail pass. He passed me going down the other side. I passed him again up at the base before Eisenhower Tunnel like he was standing still. I had OD off and cruised 60mph @3500rpm with the 5.4 with bikes and gear from Moab. SAVE AND GET THE POWERSTROKE!
