Talking Odering my SD CC SB 4x4 V8 Lariat tomorrow

Well SuperDuty fans, I'm ordering my F250 SD CC SB 4x4 V8 Lariat tomorrow (Saturday). So, now the much anticipated wait begins. Hopefully it'll be here by spring. In the mean time I'm going to be looking for a good chrome "heavy duty" brush guard. Not the ones just for appearence but for use as well. Or, maybe a integral bumper/guard that I can hide a winch behind. "Warn" has some nice bumpers but lack appropriate guards. Does anyone know or recommend any one over the other?

Thanks!
Joe

For $600 more order the V-10! Come on, you can do it! All your buddies will drool over it! Just my opinion...

Joe: is that the V8 5.4 or the V8 diesel???? I ordered my F250 on 10Nov99 and it took about 2 weeks to get a build date. Mines being born on 20Dec99. I heard about a 14 day wait after that and I should have it, barring rail strikes ect. Congradulations Now we can both sit and wait

Tina,

I think he meant the 5.4 Liter.

Joe,

You should go for the V10 like Truckin said!

Cool

Joe,

Over on the 'Ford Diesel' website there is a great deal of talk about the 'Ranchhand' bumpers and guards. Sounds like these things are made for really heavy-duty use.

I believe the site is: www.ranchhand.com

Unhappy

Well, I placed my order Saturday. I went with the 5.4 v8(gas). Reality is that it's really going to be just a commuter. Except for duck season and an occasional venture with my little boys. In a couple of years, when the boy's get bigger, I plan getting a center consol fishing boat.

I went with the F250 oxford white, CC, Lariat pkg with the 40/20/40 configuration, off road pkg, trailer pkg, runnng boards, slilding rear window, ect... I wanted the limited slip, but, I couldn't get it with the 3:73.

However, I decided against the roof clearence lights. My wife didn't like them (too commercial looking) and I was kinda against the holes in the roof, so, I said ok, no roof lights. I tried to have the "4x4" decal deleted but the dealer said the factory couldn't. But, he can have it taken off when the truck arrives.

Now for the sad part. I asked the salesman how long of a wait I had. He told me 90 days. He said it should be sooner, but that was a conservative estimate.

So, in the mean time I'll be researching all the aftermarket items I want.

Joe

Joe,
Regarding limited slip rear. I think you'd probably be better off with the 4.10 ratio anyway (and you can get limited slip too).
I have this and the combo works GREAT.
My truck is
Y2K F250 XLT SC SB 4x2 5.4L 5sp 4.10LS white + many other options.
I'm averaging 15.5 mpg (mixed driving) which seems very similar to folks who have the 3.73 rear end..
Remember with the CC and 4x4 your gonna be carrying some extra weight even empty..

Also, the 'average' wait is around 3 months for these trucks, although if your dealership has a good allotment you can get it in less. I got mine in just over 7 weeks.

Go to www.ford-diesel.com and check out section 2.2 in the FAQ to see how you can track your order via the VOPC at the factory yourself.. Don't talk humans though as the VOPC was intended for dealer use only..
Also, check out the superduty forum on www.edmunds.com as they are fairly active as well.

My neighbor ordered a F250 Crewcab with a V10 back in August... He is still waiting... First the dealer said November.. now he's saying January. The dealer told him that if he wanted a 5.4L he could get one in no time. Last year (98) I ordered my Crewcab in September and picked it up in November. Almost 7 weeks.

Thumbs up

I called yesterday(monday) to confirm that everything went well with my order and you wouldn't believe what I was told. I was told the usual yada yada about the plant being closed for the Christmas holidays and all and that the estimated arrival of my truck should be late JANUARY!. Then the guy tells me sometimes it takes a little longer but his guess would be around January 22nd. He said he should have a eta date sometime next week. I said GREAT I'll call you next week. WOW!

Then, I started to think to myself. Did this guy really mean January, or was he thinking Febuary? Either way I was thinking March!

So, I'll let ya'll know next week......

Joe- You'll wish you got the 4.10's. I have it with the limited slip, too. I assume you got the auto tranny. At least it will last behind the 5.4. Hope your wait isn't too long!
