6.0 break-in???

I read somewhere that it might take 40k miles to really break in a diesel. Is that true? I just bought an 03 with 27k miles on it. Do I need to "baby" the engine?

If you knew previous owner & can verify it was properly boken in, otherwise dosen't matter now, its yours. Yeah I know what manual says, but ALOT more to it.

According to o.a. mine breaking in good at 10K, but not completely. Full breakin really dont know. Guessing 15K. maybe more?

Go ahead tow/heavy haul etc. If you plan on keeping this one for along time chg. dino. oil/f. every 5K mi.(or sooner) regardless how you use truck. If serious, do o.a. (oil analysis) will show how oil is wearing/holding up & how the affects engine. JMO!

Good luck....OT

btw...I'm leavin to go fishin. Look for updates from others.
