V10 motor

I would like to know people opinion on the V10 motor. I know I local dealer has a 03 Excursion with 100 miles on it for $ 29,000, but it does have a V10 motor. The salesmen say they have had alot of looks but with gas being so high right now people do not want big gas motors. Would any of you guys buy it or would you run for the hills?

diesel....I thought you were looking for a truck? Excursions are just oversize paper weights in my opinion. I know I will be flamed by some.

I am still looking for a truck but if you can find a ride for your wife and kids why not buy that too.

No gas, with that big of a vehicle, you're going to want a diesel.

Well - I will give you my opinion about the V10 since no one else has yet. I love it. Granted, I hate filling it up right now, but still - great power in stock form. I am at 45K miles on it so far, and not a single hiccup, and getting about 13mpg as a daily driver.

Thumbs up Just do it

Reiterating, the Excursion is a bit excessive but the V 10 is well worth the price of gas. From southern Indiana and have a 99 250 with the V 10 and 62K. Not one thought of a problem with the motor and I can run between 12 and 15 miles to the gallon. You are going to get power beyond what you expect and a stern solid motor that will outlast your beliefs at this point. I was leary myself on going between the diesel and the gas but I haven't questioned my decision one bit. Good luck with it.

It seems to me that it depends on your pocketbook. $29K for a new Excursion is a great deal.

I love my V-10. I looked at the oil burner but couldn't rationalize the extra $8000 (including sales tax) since I don't use it every day (it's a weekend tow truck).

Good luck

I like both of them. I have a f-250 work truck with the V-10 and I love it. It's been a great truck with 30k and it's been worked hard. It gets about 12 mpg empty and it's got so much power. I know the gas mileage is less than the diesel, but for the extra 6500.00 you can buy alot of gas.

I really like mine. It' a '99' and has 50k on it now, and I have had great service out of it. I pull a 12000 lb. 5th wheel and it does a really good job. I get 12 mpg. combined hgwy&city and 8-9 when I pull. I have a chip in it which I purchased from Mike Troyer and a 'Gibson' cat back...both of those mods have been really noticeable for added power.

i have had 2 2000 superduties, both where the same pickups one with the diesel other a v10... if your pocket book can handle it get the gasser.... i love the mileage with the diesel i have now but the v10 was soooooo much quieter and had a little more power to it. I never got much better the 11-12mpg with the v10 and now with the diesel get 15 in town and 20 on the interstate with the cruise on 65. The both are 4x4 same rearends and auto transmissions. All and all they both where good engines, I liked the V10 better though.
