Question Performance upgrades to 99 Superduty V10

Hi everybody, I recently bought a 99 350 Superduty with the V10 and I am interested in performance upgrades. If there is anyone out there that has information related to this model in regards to horse power, torque , fuel milage and engine wear it would be appreciated .

Your getting 265 HP with 410 lb of torque with the 99 model. Newer models will get you 310 and 425 respectively. Gas mileage will probably be an average of 12 MPG's. The engine wear issue boils down to how well it's taken care of I have heard of one guy who is at 270,000 on his. Thats pretty good on the engine wear side if you ask me. Add on performance can anything that you would do to other motors, chips, exhaust, intakes, even superchargers.

Good luck with your truck and welcome to the site

The 99's had 275 horse. Headers, Banks or Borla add a few ponies. CHips are good but not for mpg and you have to use premium fuel, intakes help a lil too.

rrichy, I e-mailed you a bunch of e-mails about the Whipple Supercharger. They all came back as undeliverable. I just saw you on this post. This will help you as well as this forum. To upgrade your V-10 engine put a Whipple Supercharger on it. I had on installed last Saturday and it is outstanding. The added power is unreal and truck runs great. To find out everything about the Whipple Superchargers go to: coloradocobras.com

The Whipple cost me $4000. Is the Pro Charger better for your truck. I think trixstersracing.com sells them for a lot cheaper. Check out their website.

gary, thanks for your input and i can't wait for rest of the news about your performance with the whipple as many other people wait also, as you break it in!
and will still keep the whipple in mind.
but now that i found someone to do a full turbo kit, changes my outlook, although it still takes more money, time and effort to make the turbo thing happen.
in the long run would be the best
i am not sure what you ment by procharger, i know what one is but i was not refering to one.
a turbo runs off of exhoust.
i checked out the two twin screws more after listening to your reports and has caused me to think that the whipple is the better buy.
yrs. ago the whipple for the 6.8 was around 5000 at least that was what i understood, and the KB was ALOT cheaper.
now with as many prob. as KB owners are having the whipple with a lower price tag sounds even better.
still not lower than a KB though, but you get what you pay for.

i most likly am goin to do heads and honed intake first anyhow so it will be awile before i decide between turbo and screw so untill then what i see and here will still have a big influance on my decision. so don't keep us in the dark alright.

Okay. I called apten-usa.com yesterday. He is makeing a new chip for my Whipple Supercharger. Need to get rid of the rev limiter. I was doing 75 and decided to hit it and without going into passing gear in about 2 seconds I hit the wall at 100mph. Had to get the chip so I can break 100 and the Sound Barrier.

what kind of tires are you using? one reason our rev and speed limit is were its at is because of the tire rating.
be carefull!
yes the guy runnin the dyno on mine said if i raised the rev limiter there was still more power to be had!
they ran it in 2nd gear.
the torq was immediaty high and stayed flat till 5400rpm limit
imagine boring these things out more! will get much more hp.
the stroke is good enough its still more then the new 505ci. viper v10

About a month ago I bought Toyo Proxes S/T 275/60/16s. They are rated to 140mph. I wont go more than 130mph.
