Would anyone know if a Ford dealer can get particular info about a vehicle like service records, warranty repair info, and TSB's applied if the work was done at another dealership?

Looking at buying a used 2003 but the dealer that has the truck says it was not serviced/repaired at their dealership as it came in from another city. I kind of had the impression that all the dealership would have to do would be plug the vin number in to the computer and the vehicles whole repair history would be there to view.

Guess this would mean that Ford would have to maintain records for millions of vehicles so maybe not?

Never asked for this info before so no experience - anyone else?

I think they can. If the local dealer can't then they should be able to find the dealer where it was serviced and get the records from them.

 

Yes, any Ford dealer can tell you the service history if the work were performed at a Ford dealership. The records are kept in OASIS for one year.

What you may want to do is just go to www.flatratetech.com and ask for an OASIS check. Tell them you want to know if there are service records or any issues indicated. Post the VIN also.

Thats the good side to the OASIS, now here is the bad, as soon as you drive into a Ford dealership they run your VIN on the Oasis, and the report comes up...

Heres the bad part(and I know from experience)...When a dealer voids your waranty due to a heavily modified engine, then ANY Ford dealership can tell because they run the Oasis report and it comes back and tells them so...(ooouch!!)
