Question auto hubs

I have a 1999 250SD with 4WD and selectable auto hubs. I want to know how you remove the front hubs. I purchased a 'Chiltons' manual, but it only shows the hubs that are held in with 3 screws and a retaining ring. My hubs do not have the 3 screws...only a lock ring, but removing the ring does not allow the hub to come off...or so it seems. The 'Auto / Lock' select dial is very difficult to move and I wanted to take them off and repair the condition...but I can't get the darn things off...Help!!!

I just got done, and I had one that was froze. The book says they should come off with "hand power", and not use tools. I, however, had to use two screwdrivers and gently pry from opposite sides. Be careful not to put too much pressure inward on the hub. Undoubtedly it was seized on the shaft, but it felt like it was under a vacuum. Anyway, I got it off. Now, if I can just find out where to get a new one, or replacement bearings for one...
