Testing driving F250 6L

Test drove my 3rd F250 6L. These trucks are new. Each time I drive one, I punch the milage read-out and they are report 8-10 mpg while driving. Hey, I'm not towing anything, why so low milage. Is it because it new, short trip driving, etc. If any 6L owners out there, how long did it take for you to start reading hight milage numbers?

8-10 is really low even for new. From what I've seen reported people were getting anywhere from 12-19mpg with the new 6L and as high as 22 mpg. What's really odd and it most likely is due to all the different versions of the Flash Ford has for them or bad injectors, is the large spread from what one person get's on their new 6L vs the next person.

Your checking the mpg on a truck that probably hasn't been 5 miles from the dealership. My truck, weeks old, was the same way. The overheads are reset by the dealer when you buy them and then your real mpg will start when you can get out on the road. I'm getting 19.8 hwy and 18.5 around town after 1100 miles. This truck is far from broke in also. My last truck which was a gasser took over 3000 miles to start getting decent mpg and the best it ever got was 16.8.
BTW, I love my 6.0 250!

I would like to add, that the mileage you see is on a demo truck that people take out and drive the dog out of...

People get in these with no intentions of buying it and jump all over it when its still cold...

The driving conditions are poor at best...This would explain why the mileage figures are so low...
