wheels

Guys

I am wanting to buy a set of 16.5x9.75 wheels for the stroke would i have to also buy a lift kit( if I mounted 285's) on them to make fit? thanks Dennis

I have 285s on my stock 4x2 with no problem. I still want a lift evenutally, but for now they definately look better than stock on the truck.

Tire size should be fine. When you are shopping for wheels keep a couple things in mind. 1st would be the obvious, offset. Make sure you get the proper offset for your truck. 2nd is hubcentric vs lugcentric mountings.

Superduties use a hubcentric wheel design where the weight of the truck on the hubs. The wheel fits snugly on a lip on the hub. If I remember right, the lugnuts are even flat surfaced like a regular nut as opposed to having the taper on one side.

Lugcentric wheels are what most are used to. The vehicle's weight is carried by the lugs.

There have been a few cases where people have had the lugs fail because they bought the wrong type of aftermarket wheels.
