04 Super Duty interior

I haven't seen much discussion about these fine details, but did everyone notice that the 04's now have the backseat fold down to a flat storage area and have head restraints in the back too.

The only question now is why did it take so long to get this done. I wasn't going to buy one until they fixed these two issues.

I still will most likely hold off until the new body design, but you never know, maybe this body style will hold for a while depending on how "Tonka" they go in 05/06.

Anyone else have something that caught their eye in 04 models?

The keyless entry key pad on the door! Power adjustable pedals standard with the Lariat package.

I went and looked at an '04 today. The rear seat doesn't really lay down but it's pretty cool.

You actually flip up the seat bottom so it's parallel with the seat back. Then you flip over a metal "load floor" that's under the seat. this load floor is sort of a metal "table" that's about 2"-4" off the actual floor. Oh, it is a 60/40 split.

Still not bad as it does give you some flexibility and it's comfortable. The seat does have 2 headrests, and in the flip down armrest there are integrated cup holders.

The keypad doesn't look as smooth and slick as they do on other cars or trucks (like my Expy). It looks almost after market but it does serve the function.

Seems like the leather on the seats is different. I liked it better.

Oh, and the prices have gone UP!! This loaded Lariat 4x4 Crewcab SWB with PSD and pretty much everything common, (no PTO, dual alt's, moon roof etc.) and it was roughly $46300 MSRP. An '03 equipped the same would run $44-$45 range. This was in Frisco Tx.

I like the headrests, but I dont like the fold down option because it leaves no space under the seat for Amps. and XM receivers and stuff I would never put anything in the back seat anyway, thats what the bed if for My dog has a special blanket that goes on the seat and she likes it just fine that way

As far as the keypad, it looks kinda dorky IMO and, again, I would never use it unless I lost my keys and remote, but thats what a card key is for

FamilyRide, I'm looking at the online inventory for F250's at the FORD in Frisco and they don't list the 04 F250. Was it for sale or just for droolin'?

The guy said they knew they just got one in but didn't know if it was even preped yet. He checked and they actually had 2. 1 4x4 and 1 4x2. Both are the burgundy looking red. When I was there they were both close to the end of the longest row of SD's, on the end close to 121 parked facing east. The 4x4 is a hard loaded Lariat and I think the 4x2 is as well. Sticker is $46+

Sounds like they had just gotten them in. That was Friday afternoon.

Something about the interior looks different, I thnk. I like it better. Maybe the texture of the leather....

By the way, I haven't found 2004's online anywhere yet but I know they are selling already. I wonder if they just aren't showing them online yet. There are a lot of 2003's still out there!

i went to walk the truck lot sunday (closed) and this guy is driving round in a golf cart bugging people for names and phone #. He comes over to me an asks what I'm looking for. I thought he was some kind of security but turns out he's a sales guy trying to get leads. I ask him if they got any 2004 F250's an he says just one. Complains about Detroit shoving all this 2003 stock at them and how they gotta really deal on 'em to sell 'em. Tell's me its gonna be tough finding 2004's for a while. So after he leaves I walk down the row checking stickers and find five different 2004's. Then I walk to the back and find two more. Good thing I didn't give him my name.

Anyways, its tough to tell much difference just looking through windows, maybe the seats are different in the Lariat. Of course the sticker price is maybe couple hundred more. I'd buy an 03 except for the lost year and mostly 'cause of the 6.0L fear factor. Hoping the 04's are just less buggy.

The differences in '03 and '04 are really the wireless keypad and the back seat. If those aren't important to you, an '03 with the rebate would be a good deal. The 6.0 tauted as the 2004 6.0 is supposed to be released to Ford at the end of Sept. Looking at the changes, it's a lot of emisions changes, turbo redesign etc. Not sure it's going to be a whole lot better unless they are really doing something different with the SW. The reflashes seem really hit or miss. Some have more problems or give up performance and some have good luck with them. It's funny how many reflashes they have out already.....

When you're looking at them, look underneath for an oil drip on the bell housing. That turned me away from buying an '03 Excursion I found that was almost exactly what I was looking for. COuld be an easy fix, but too many are going through multiple rear main seal replacements without stopping the leak. Others are seeing it dissapear after oil changes......

just 2B clear, your saying newer engines will not show up in current 04's... i should wait till september? I really want to the best shot at "trouble free" and am willing to forego a 1500 rebate when we're talkin spending 35-45 grand. Besides, I've learned a thing or two about rebates and getting the best deal but thats another thread......anyways.....

How would somebody know the difference between an 03 and 04 6.0L engine? where are you getting this info about the engine mods/changes?

thanks

Dates are rumor coming form different places. As far as the changes, there is supposed to be a quick easy give-away in that a sensor (can't remember mabe ICP) will connect to the passenger side valve cover now. Not sure where it is now but appearently not easily visible.

You can get a LOT of good info at TDS (www.thedieselstop.com)

The last rumor I heard on when the changes will happen with the 6.0 is that in September the redisgned turbo will be added and in December is when the other changes to the motor will happen. It makes sense to me because my understand is that starting in Jan '04, tougher emissions standards kick in.

So maybe thee is something to that. Although I heard Oct. 1 was a deadline which makes sense on the '06 release. Since earlier, someone posted on TDS what is supposed to be the release schedule for the revised '04 6.0 for the 2 assembly plants. 9/22 I think is the first and 9/29 was the date for the second.

Power adjustable pedals are NOT standard on the lariat. It is a $125 option. I just ordered one.

Seem's like they've made a few things options that were standard, like the pedals and even body side molding.......
