Question 02 or 03 ???

I am looking at two trucks right now.
A 03 F250SD Lariat 6.0L diesel brand new for $38k after all the rebates.
The other truck is a used 11k miles 02 F350 dually Lariat LE it has the 7.3 L diesel in it and it is for the same price $38k

They are both with the full four doors, I like them both but I kinda like the Dually with the LE trim better.
And I have always thought the duallies were cool. So for the same money which is the better buy?
Thanks for you help...
Bill

The price for the Used 2002 seems High. Go to Edmunds.com or KBB, and check the numbers. I looked at the 2002 F-350 loaded with every option and the pricing range from $27,000 if you traded it in, to $32,000 if you bought it from the dealer. Seems about 6K to high. George K

Personally, I would feel better spending that kind of $$ on the new one. I am always leary of vehicles that are back on the market as quickly as that '02 is - makes me wonder what kind of problems the original owner had that made them get out of it. However, if you have access to maintenance records on it (and maybe an OASIS printout from the selling dealer), you might be able to find out if it is a lemon or not. I also think the price on the '02 seems a little high - but don't really know what the LE package went for. Bottom line - go with whichever one will let you sleep better at night - because either way it is an SD!

I've never heard of the LE edition. What extra features/options does it have?

Personally, I would go for the new '03 with the 6.0L. The new engine and transmission are fantastic.

I think the LE package has a custom graphics package, unique leather seating, some extra woodgrain trim, and a unique windshield visor and running boards. Kind of a factory conversion package. I don't have a clue what the pricine for it would be, though.

Is the $38k for the '02 the asking price or the negociated price? I think you should be able to get it for less than a new truck by a few thousand dollars.

'02 vs '3

An '03 LE with DRW should have stickered around $43,000 and the invoice was about $38,500. They are asking invoice on a new '03 for a used '02. Granted, its an unusual truck, but you can do better--have them throw in a 6 yr/100000 ESP warranty at the least.
