Would like a smoother ride

I have a '03 F-250 supercab 5.4 short bed. I love the truck, but would like a smoother ride. The roads here in LA are not the best and sometimes it gets too rough. Maybe some new shocks?? Any suggestions?

Forgive me if I'm too brutally honest here, but an F-250 is not a light duty truck and to be able to carry, pull or push as much as your truck is capable of, it's going to ride a little rougher than a Lexus. That said, you can still soften up the jolts by chaging your shocks. If you happen to have the Fx4 package, those particular Rancho shocks have not been universally praised for their smooth ride and a change to real Rancho shocks can make a big difference. Edelbrock IAS shocks will make a big difference too. Good luck and enjoy your truck!

I guess I am from the old school where trucks drove like trucks. I think my 03 250 rides too soft on the road. My wife keeps trying to drive it because it is nicer than her car(intrigue). You might want to check tire pressure. I don't think you need the high pressure if your not hauling stuff.

It's a 2WD. Our roads are the worst in the country I believe, so I just wanted it a little smoother. I love the truck. Would a shock change make a difference?

For the most part the stiff ride comes from the tires. Which tires are you running? Michelins ride smother. Either the LTX M/S or the Cross Terrain.

Rancho RS9000x shocks can be set to ride the way you want them to ride. If you drive empty most of the time you can set them light and adjust the setting when you load it up. The truck will corner better also.

There is also a velvet ride shackel that tames the rear end down when driving without a loaded box.

I installed bilstiens and am greatly pleased. The ride is stiff, but not jarring. Also, the tire pressure makes a huge difference. I keep 55 up front and 65 in back.
BTW, have you been to New England? Some of our highways are like going off road, but at 70MPH!!
