"NEW" Torqshift or 4R100 remake?
My sig tells it all. I need something new. Ford/Dodge/Chevy.
Sorry, not loyale, just want quality that I didn't get with my first one. Did I get a bad one? I now have "Door crack," is it showing? hahaha.
I am beginning to tow more now, 7k, once a month. The 'ol 5.4L is good but, want and willing to get more.
Trannys - from what I hear the 4R100(E4OD) is the same tranny behind the V-10. I don't want it unless hundreds of you can "sell" me on it.
In So. Ca, we just had great end-of-the-month dealer advertised deals on these.
The "new" torqshift, is it new or a 4R100 "build up"?
I know after market does a lot to beef up a gas/diesel tranny. The last repair two weeks ago under warranty...the first thing out of their mouth was..."you have a chip...you have bigger tires blah, blah, blah." They rebuilt the tranny for a second time.
Back to the torqshift, what is it? Any Ford techs care to chime in.
By-the-way, My F150 IS for sale $17,950obo with 56.7k miles.

The 5sp. ts a/t for PSD is not like the old 4R100. All new just for the 6L PSD.
Try "search" archives..Ford Truck news on this site.It may still be there?...all the specs. on 6L PSD and TS 5spd. a/t.

The 4R100 in the V10 Superduty is a stronger unit than in the F150. I have been on various message boards since 1997. It seems that weekly there are 1-2 failures of the 4R100 on diesel trucks. However, in all that time, I think I have read maybe 4 failures with gas engines. I would not hesitate to buy another. The tqshift is an all new unit as far as I understand.
