serpentine belt cut into top radiator hose

I have never replaced my hoses and belts on my truck, so everything is OE. I have about 75k miles on my 1999 PSD and had just returned home from a 150 mile round trip drive. When I pulled into the driveway, there was coolant fluid dripping on the driveway. I found that the belt had been cutting into the hose and finally cut a small pin hole. All I got to say is GREAT DESIGN
Advice to Ya'll:::check your hoses and belts today...

Mine didn't have that problem, but two of my friends had that happen. All three of us had 2000 models. One occured in less than 15,000 miles, and the other happend around 50,000 miles.

Ford has a replacement hose that keeps it clear of the belt, the only problem was that Ford dealerships (at the time this happened) were the only place you could get this replacement hose.

The fun part was that this happened Saturday evening. No one is open except for autozone and they didn't have the hose - special order. I had to go to Ohio the next day, so I went into autozone anyway and bought one of those flex hoses. It fit ok, but I had to run a wire up from the frame, tie it to the hose and secure it back from the belt. It works fine, but I am going to put the right hose back on it.

A word of advice, get the upper radiator hose that's for the double alternator option. It is designed to go around the belt so you don't have to take the hose off to remove the belt and also, you will not run the risk of the belt cutting into the radiator hose. Bugman.

yeah, I put on the hose that goes around the surpentine belt. I had to put another clamp on at half ring.
