Need help with stalling explorer

I know this isnt an Explorer forum, but maybe y'all can help.

Mt dad has a 1999 Explorer EB 4.0. Recently he has had a problem with it stalling and not wanting to idle. Problem seems more evident when outside moisture is high. Dealer cannot duplicate and no trouble codes.

I was thinking of like a CPS problem. ANYONE have any ideas or info?

Or where else on the net to look?

my wifes 2000 eb exploder did the same thing...won't idle, you gotta keep the idle up with the peddle for about 3 minutes then it finnally idles...yeah we took it to ford(under warrenty)...i suggested the ICV(idle control valve)..got the"yeah,sure"...they kept it for two days ...hooked it up to the diagnostic computer, found nothing...road tested with lap top plugged in and downloaded to diag.comp.... found nothing...called me up and said to come get it...i get the work order and it says"diagnostic check negative ,road test inconclusive...replaced ICV at owner suggestion..may need more work ...no problems since..go to fordexplorer.net...it,s a new and small site..i,m over there too

Sounds like Scooby hit the nail on the head, except the part is actually called an IAC (Idle Air Control) Valve. These tend to go bad between +/- 30,000 to 60,000 miles. The cost for an Expy IAC is around $60 and can be replaced in 20 minutes or so.

Good Luck.
