Possibly new interior options for Expy & Navi

Check out my thread in the Interior Care section of the board. I was thinking of getting a new Expy or Navi soon, but if this is true I may just wait a few years.

Enjoy,

Sounds like a poor excuse to wait. Those articles are usually just a bunch of B.S. If you like the way they are now just go buy one. If you are always waiting for something better then stick with what you've got. Personally I think the interiors are pretty nice as they are.

Understood-

OK-

I understand the reasoning- If you pay more, you should have something better, right? I agree. Which is why I would have never paid $63,000 for a Corvette ZR-1, that looked just like the C-4, with the exception of squared off taillights- even if it Did have 105 more ponies.

I'd never have paid $50,000 for a Mustang Cobra R, no matter how fast they are, because there's nothing on that car, a kid with a V-6 stang couldn't do to his to make it look just like mine, plus he'd have AC and a radio.

It's also why for years I prefered the Expedition over the Navigator. (Even though that opinion is changing now.)

Camry/ES300, Accord/TL, TrailBlazer/Envoy, etc... Why pay more when you essentially get the same thing?

Yes, I agree. As a consumer, the further one goes up in price, the more different the vehicle, even if it's the same basic vehicle, should be. There should be something that says (And not only by name) That's an F-150 Lariat, not an XLT. Also, I think that once you go top-end, what you have should not be easily duplicated or exceeded by aftermarket parts.

In my opinion, think Ford does a great job on interior ergonomics- much better than the General. No manufacturer's ergonomics are as neatly laid out or as logical & functional as Honda/Acura's. Nissa/Infiniti running a close 2nd, but variety is the spice of life- (You'll note that BMW, Mercedes, & Lexus were left out) I don't want to confuse my Ford with a Honda in any area other than quality, reliability and fit & finish.

I like that the Navi is different from the Expy now, in many ways, especially the floor shifter as opposed to the very 1970's column approach. Ford should put the colum shifter on the Expy's that have bench seats in all 3 rows, and floor/console shifters on all other models.

interesting insight... unfortunately the SUV category has many subcategories in which companies, like Ford, are trying to exploit. It sounds like a good idea to further distinguish the different classes of SUV's available these days. But a good explanation as to what they are trying to do is very similar to why fast food companies created the "biggie size it" concept: even though the consumer appears to be getting more for their money, in fact its pure profit for the companies. So in knowing that, you are more inclined to save your money right? Now if I mention the aftermarket industry for SUV's, that logic goes out the window. Why? because instead of getting the extra features straight from the factory, you spend your money on aftermarket parts to differentiate your vehicle from the next. I believe this is why Ford and other companies, as stated in the article, feel the need to create differentiated interiors for their consumers... they want a piece of that aftermarket pie. The question is, will they offer something that consumers would really want?

Anyone got a wishlist?
