I was actually like a little kid at the playground, what a blast!! I got there early and being a "newbie" (I have been to the Drag Strip many times before but always in the stands, not on the track) I had no clue as to tech inspection, rules & required gear, etc.

I didn't even know if I was going to make it as I had a Birthday party for a goddaughter to be at at 1:00 in the afternoon that was over an hours drive from the track!

Well, I show up with $12 cash and they say they don't take credit cards All I wanted to do was run down the track to see what it would do and now I couldn't do any thing but watch!! (with no money for beer either!!)

Well then all of a sudden, just like a superhero staight out of a marvel comic book, Raoul slaps a twenty on me and tells me to get her through tech inspection so I can line up to run

In the course of an hour I do my best to 'earn' the twenty by showing the crowd that a 5000+ Expy can burn off 20,000 miles worth of Goodyear Wranglers in the water hole. I made six passes down the strip in less then an hour and a half. The guys operating the tree, water box and in the time slip shed loved it. I wish I didn't have to leave so early so I could have stuck around and chatted with the online guys there (I just couldn't seem to keep from getting back in line to run again)

YOU need to try to make it next year. I'll even make a crown/trophy and have it on hand to award to whoever makes it there and beats me (it won't take much)

Anyway, I'm not trying to step on toes, just stir up some interest. I was pretty impressed by my numbers as I was told to expect low to mid 17s

BTW, temps were mid 80's and climbing fast with lots of humidity.

**EDIT- temps reached mid 90's with 98% humidity

My best times were: (and note that this is a stock Expy)

.762 - - - - Reaction
2.329 - - - 60'
10.472 - - 1/8 @ 67.03
16.369 - - 1/4 @ 82.46

Now here's the $64k question, how many other Expy's and Navigators were there?

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about. Bring your truck out next year and we'll run for the crown (maybe I can win the lotto by then so I can afford some mods to defend the title )

My offer to ScottyBones extends to you ALL. Between now and next years event I will design/construct, or somehow come up with a crown or trophy, it will be a run what you brung, allout run for the crown. The only rules are:

1. it must be a Expy or a Gator
2. you MUST be present to win

That's right No Bench Racing (or message board racing) for this honor. You have to win it on the track AT the event.

I look forward to seeing the tail lights of a lot of quick and awsome rides next year. I hope you can bring yours.

Talking

You better make it a Trophy, not a Crown.

I can see guys throwing the race, just so you won't be stickin' some tin foil on top of their head.

Expedition Quake

If this one is still around, it might just take the crown.

no, no, no, I was trying like he!! to get some response from them, good or bad didn't matter which. I was (and still am) juiced over the event and was trying to get the word out to some folks in hopes of getting them off their, eh screen names for next years event.

BTW, I Don't take the flames to serious, the real Lightning guys didn't do it. The 'flamethrowers' can be classified in one of two catagories

1. aren't really even Lightning owners.

2. didn't take the time to read past the first post on the thread
