265/75r16's tires on 2wd Expy

Who has this size tire on their stock 2wd Expy's? It's time to replace my stock 255/70r16's. I want bigger tires on my Expy. But, I used to have a F250 Super Duty with the 265/75's and I am wondering if that size will be yoo big for my 2wd Expedition. Please help me out in making a decision. I would like to see some pics if anybody has 265/75r16's on their stock 2wd Expy's.

I have the 265/75/16 on my 2wd Expy and i love it. It filled the wheel wells better than the original tires. Speedometer is also
accurate (surprise) according to the (radar) speed posted by the police
department.

They will fit fine and look better as well.

Your (OEM Goodyear Wrangler AP?) 255/70-16s are 30.2" in diameter and roll 682 revolutions per mile traveled.

New Michilin LTX M/S 265/75-16s (my recommendation for a great on road all-season type tire) is 31.8" diameter and travels 658 revolutions per mile traveled.

The switch would give you an odometer/speedometer error of less then 5% which in most minds acceptable (60 mph indicated might be 62 mph actual) and it will fill out those big fender wells a little better too.

BTW, if you also want to 'firm up' the ride and handling a little make sure you get the LT (Light Truck) load range C tires as the P (Passanger Tires) that come with these are a little too soft in the sidwalls, going to a higher sidewall will only compound this, and yes you can mount these on you stock wheels.

Thanks petrol

Man, Ya'll are making me want to go out today and buy some new tires. Petrol, thanks for the info. I was either thinking michilin's or BFG's.

I've got over 62,000 miles on my '98 with the original OEM tires. How am I doing? I hope I can get as good of mileage out of replacement tires.

295/65/16's will do nicely-

I had 295/65/16's wrapped around some American Racing Atlas wheels, and they filled the wheel well quite nicely. They didn't protrude from the sides of the wheel well, and were taller than those stock 275's.

They're for sale, since I went up to 275/55/20's. I didn't have the $ for the tires I really wanted (305/50/20's Nitto's @ $340 a pop) So, I'll have to wait- But, just so you'll know, I've seen people with 305/60/18's and they didn't stick out either- so I know you can go that wide (305mm) and not worry about rubbing in all but the tightest turns. I had no troubles with turning on 295's, my buddy has a glorified Expy, er, I mean a Navigator and he has no trouble with his 305's. (Just kidding Ed/Frisco, TX, your Navigator is nothing like an Expedition! :^) )

So, there are no worries with going a bit taller or wider. My new tires are 31.9"- filled the well, but it's not stuffed, so I'm going to have to lower it a bit. No off-roading for me, unless you count the Wal-Mart parking lot as being off-road!

Bighersh, you're looking for wide! LOL, I hope you can get those tires you really want soon. That's big $$$ for tires! I went with BFG long trail A/T's 265/75r16. I am happy with them so far. Thanks for everyones advice.

LT vs Passenger rated

I heard that those LT tires handle much better on teh trucks & SUV's than the passenger rated tires.

Does any manufacturers make a 20" tire in LT class?
