Help, I got a Jingle.

The sound seems to be coming from the front passanger side. When I'm driving down the road, I hear a jingling sound when I have the front passanger window down. I can't figure out where it's coming from. The sounds dosn't seem to be related to speed but if I go over roads that are rougher, the jingle is louder. Anyone got any ideas on where the could is coming from? This is on a '02 Expy with the Sport Package.

TIA
- Dae

Here's your help...

This one drove me nuts for months until I got a reply on here. Pop off your front wheel center caps (or take off your wheel if you have aftermarkets that cover the hubs). There is a little metal cap over the nut held on by a cotter pin. You need to tighten the cotter pin with pliers.

Jingle this little cap around and you'll see that it makes the eluding noise. I always thought the previous owner had hidden a spare key that I couldn't find or something.

Good luck.

Thanks

Resuce,

I take a look at it this weekend. The odd thing is that if the cotter pin is lose, why wouldn't have this shown up last year?

BTW, I'll let you know if that's the problem and yes, it does sound like keys also. Infact, I took the keys off my key chain to double check even though I only heard the sound when the window was down.

Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing going out.

I think someone atmy dealership moved that cotter pin around when they rotated the tires. It was loose, and the position they put it in, the jingle started. Weird.

Rescue,

I think it was the cap that goes over the hub nut! I pulled the center cap off the wheel and the thing was as loose as can be. I tried to bend the cotter to hold the cap tight but no luck. It seems that he factory had 2 dabs of grease under it and it just wore away. I've gotta now get down to my boat to get my grease gun and am going to put some grease between the nut and the cap.

Thanks!!!
