When is Ford going to do something about the Phantom Wiper problem?

I had a Ranger that had this problem twice. I had a Expo that has had this problem once. My dad's Ford Taurus Police Car has this problem.
Now it is bad enough when I have to pay for this problem on two vehicles but, when I hear that a police department is have to buy a large amount of parts to fix the wiper problem that just pisses my off. How much of tax payer's money is spent on fixing this problem. Majority of police departments have Ford vehicles now and a lot of them have this wiper problem and we are paying to fix it.

I just think that that is wrong.

The problem where your wipers will start to wipe automatically. all of the ones that I seen do it for only one or two wipes and then stop. The two dealers that I went to here say that they have never heard of it before. I pay to get a new multi-lever installed and it works fine for about 12 months and then it does it again.

Chevy had that problem in their trucks for years. I've not had any problem with my Expy.

I had the same problem with a a Windstar I owned. Ended up being a bad battery. Sounds weird but it fixed it.......

I don't really have the phantom wiper problem but, I do have a faulty switch that controls the wipers seemingly...

Once you kick them on, they'll either run on the 'fast' speed or on the 'timer' but, the timer will only run two speeds. Also, it wil randomly spray washer fluid when you're messing with the switch itself.

This is an item that's on my list for warranty work.

I drove a rental Taurus a couple years back that the wipers went on the fritz. HAd to pull the fuse on it to stop the wipers. The rental car company said that Ford had been fixing it and that most of their rental cars had developed the problem. Then they gave me a Geo Metro to drive to replace the Taurus.

I have noticed that when I run my battery down (like when it is -30 degrees or when my fuel pump went bad and I was cranking it to check the problem) the wipers come on for one sweep when the truck starts. So I guess a bad battery would cause the same problem.

When this happens all the gauges go to full sweep and then back to zero before reading correctly.

Unhappy

I might have this problem too.
The wipers don't move but, the whole truck rocks back and forth.

Everything is moving except the wipers.

I wish I was still under warranty!

I usually don't complain but, I noticed they put the windshield washer nozzles on the inside of my windshield.

And when I blow the horn it makes that Three Stooges Whoop..Whoop..Whoop sound.

My previous vehicle...a 2000 explorer had it but there was a recall that fixed it...I'd look into it. And frankly...I think on the scale of things our government agencies blow money on....this doesn't even register.
