Problem With Ac

I took my 99Expy to the Ford dealer for a free oil change.
And now I am out 1000.00 dollars.
I had them check my AC because sometimes it would work
and sometimes it would not.

Well they said I have major problems, several leaks and bad hoses and that my accumulator was damaged? What is that?
and other serveral things. Over 700 just in parts.

My truck only has 25,000 miles and I only used the AC for
three summers.
Is this normal ? Has anyone else had problems with there AC?

For 1000.00 dollars I can put 5 AC in my home.

I talked to the service manager and they have given
me a 20% reduction in prices.

I have also checked some local mechanics and they dont
want to touch my truck.

I am being riped off ? Should I write a letter for FORD CO?

Wouldn't this be covered under warranty? I would definitely contact the local Ford rep and make a complaint. If the hoses and accumulator went bad in that short of time, then something must have been wrong from the factory. Good luck.

Thanks Silver X and Navi Man

I went All American Ford on River Street in Hackensack. This is where I bought my truck.

I am also going to speak to the sales man who sold me the truck.

The service manager said she is going to work with me on some
of the prices on the parts. We will see ?

My Expy is no longer under warranty. It is over 3yrs old.even
tough it only has 25,000 miles.

I will let you know how it turns out.

After this whole mess. My Expys AC is working just fine

And my salesman was able to talk to one of the owners
and came thru for me.
All American Ford is going to reimburse me half of the amount.

Do you guys think I still should write a letter to FORD CO and seek the other half?

If it makes you feel any better, I just paid $350 to have one (1) hose replaced on my 2000 Expy...out of factory warranty and extended warranty doesn't cover AC hoses. When recharging, the bums charged me for five cans of freon at $20 per lb. Anyone can buy this stuff for $2 per lb.

To answer your question, I think the dealership went above and beyond their duty to satisfy you, inasmuch as nothing is cheap when dealing with automotive AC's, and you probably shouldn't pursue the matter with Ford's Customer Service dept. BUT, it's certainly up to you what you decide to do.

Bigredexpy, do not feel bad. I have a 99 eb expy. I had to have my a/c replaced Oct 2001. At the time it had 42,000 miles on it. Two weeks ago I had to have the torque converter and tranny rebuilt at 47,000. The cost was $1,700.00. Luckily I had an extended warranty, so I paid the fifty dollar deductible and that was it. The service writer told me his tranny went out with 13,000 miles on the expy. He has a 2001.
