Unhappy I Want better Seats

What I have in mind is replacing my stock cloth driver and passanger side seats with something that will offer more lateral support. I am considering a couple differant sport/comfort type models (no 'converstion van' type here) at www.recaro.com and www.carbeau.com

My real questions are:

Has any one else done or considered doing this with their Expy or F150?

Were/are you able to adapt the seats to the stock power seat support?

Do you know of any other seat manufactures that I should be considering?

I am hoping to get some good response, even if it's just to say 'yea, my seats suck too!'

Go to a reputable upholstery shop and see if they can make a different cushion for you and retain the factory seats. This would definitely be cheaper than replacing the whole seat and you won't change the appearance.

Expy/Supercrew seat swap

I also would like better seats for my '02 X. And like so many other things I want... the costs are a little out of range right now. I did have a thought to getting the seats from the Supercrews. When I was at the dealer getting my X serviced, I sat in one and they felt good. Good support and all. I posted some threads asking if anyone's done this or if the tracks will match but no replies. Maybe this will getting a better return.

If anyone out there knows please reply.

Thanks in advance.

hdlouie, the firmness of the seat isn't my real problem, though that too could be better. I tend to take the corners, well, a little quicker then most and want some real support.

Navi Man, I have been to an upolstery shop and they can't do what I want with padding and new faberic only. I also want a wider bottom seat cushion (before you'll start with the fat jokes, no I am not really that much of a wide load, I'm 5'-10" 200 lbs and fit)

Expy_with_Seoul, The seats I am looking at range from $300-$400 each and are covered with a very good grade cloth. Not too bad a deal considering amny folks spend more then that for a CAT back exhaust that they don't even get to sit on

Anyway, they way I look at it. Your tires may be the only point of contact your truck has with the road but a good seat can really make a differance in the calibration of your 'seat-o-the-pants' meter. I would have thought with all the big $$$ that many folks seem to spend on upgrades for there trucks that this wouldn't be such an 'overlooked' area, I know Lasy-boy' doesn't seem to have a problem selling to these same guys.
