Brake wear and life

I have a 2000 Expy with 20,000 miles that I just had to replace the brakes on. What is the normal life of a set of brakes? Truck is in traffic a lot so I would tend to say this truck does more heavy braking than not. And what is the normal cost on replacing the breaks (the dealer has me paying about $250)

Thnxs

when you say brakes do you mean fronat and rear? pads, rotors and shoes?

I got 60,000 miles out of all 4 corners (and still had meat left but replaced them for peace of mind)

If you only did front pads, 20,000 isn't so bad, as long as your rears and front rotors are still okay.

These trucks are front heavy and have the majority of their braking action on the front. Front pad replacement isnt a big issue to me after 20,000.
