Has anyone ever removed the factory Expedition Badges from the front fenders? I've read to use a hair dryer to heat the glue up and then fishing wire. Are there any holes in the body behind the badge? If anyone has ever done this, please let me know.

I am wanting to install the Lightning Badges.

Did you happen to install a Lightning powertrain along with those badges?

 

Yes there are holes in the fender for the badges. Got into an wreck, had to replace a fender, so pulled the badge off and there were two holes. The replacement fender from Ford didn't have them, go figure. It didn't matter to me because I wanted them off anyway. In fact, I'm turning in my X to my body man to take the rear badges off, and paint some other stuff. The sig picture is big, but I'm going to shrink it soon, sorry.

I fixed it no more big picture.

or if you want to go ahead but do know that all the lightning owners are going to be very perturbed.

the lightning owners here are quite cordial for they do not care if you put any lightning part on your truck or SUV as long as you do not put the emblem on it.

there is just something about it that they dislike... they have the right......

just have the 2 holes on each fender shaved for a flush look....

 

What about the rear emblem on an Expy? Does this come off the same as the emblems on the two front fenders? I already have custom emblems on the front, and just got in the one for the rear. Any help would be great

 

Why dont you put on Silverado SS badges instead?

Your truck is a much a Silverado as it is a Lightning. I can appreciate what you are trying to do, but you do not have a lightning and would end up making the truck look worse.

People would point and laugh at you and call you a poseur. Nothing wrong with making a truck look nicer, but never claim its something its not.

I'm not trying to flame you, I'm just trying to warn you about what will happen if you procede.

I could see MAYBE a SVT embelem or something custom, but not a Lightning one man!! We would have people talking about how they beat a 4WD Lightning with a Camper Shell!!

 

You know I tried to look for some billit emblems, not to many out there at all. Some people had some one off's, but wouldn't sell them.
But after I eliminated them I like not having anything.

my very 1st post and i get ripped apart! i had no idea people would react so stongly on this. i just thought it would look cool to have lightning badges instead of the boring expediton ones.

after reading some of the post, i think i'll just remove all the badges and go with the shaved look rather than installing the lightning ones.

my apoligies to anyone i may have offened with my question and thanks to everyone who gave me a heads up on the two holes.

I have 3 holes on my F150 supercab. 2 of them appeared to be alignment holes. The 3rd was a little larger and in the center.

I don't think anyone has started really flaming you yet... Just merely trying to get the point across. Lightning parts are one thing, a lightning badge is different. Might as well put a Mustang emblem on a gremlin!

But hey, they shaved look is kinda cool too!

 

 

Hope you don't feel like you been bullied in making your decision. Hell, why apologize. If you think Lightning badges look cool, than do it. Would I? No. Not because people would be offended, but I like my badges on my F150. This site is great for information, questions, comments, concerns, etc., but don't feel like you need permission from fellow members to modify your vechicle.

 

I'm only a GEN 1 Lightning owner, but I don't see the problem.. If that's what you really want, go for it!! I've seen a couple different exps on this site with the Gen 2 frontend and wheels, and must say they looked awesome... If you have the frontend and wheels, why not add the badges to go with it??? I guess the fact that it's an exp we are talking about is the reason I'd think it ok.... I seen an f-150 the other day with LIGHTNING badges and it was sickening...I mean this truck looked like your XL model 150, down to the wimpy wheels, but it had those badges.... Some out there are probably unaware of what lightning's have under the hood...Probably just think it's a cosmetically dressed up 150.....
