Iam also planning on getting a similar setup. If you have the money go ahead and get the dual headrest monitors because in my opinion they look the best and are great for viewing from the rear seat. But because to have this professionaly done it will cost close to $2500 and the monitors will have to be only 4in I would go with an overhead setup. You can probably get the monitor from ebay.com and install it yourself. Iam sure you can find a nice monitor for like $200. Hope that helps.
I have the overhead unit in the 2001 EB, and I widh that they would have opted for smaller ones in all the headrests.
THe overhead unit is nice for the people viewing it, but a pain for the person driving (because you can't see out the rearview if its down).
Good luck, and post [ics of whatever you do.

With regard to the dual monitors in the headrests, I think $2500 is a little too steep a price. Circuit City sells the 2 5.6" monitors with VCR and 2 wireless headphones for somewhere around $1300 and installation is about $75/per headrest. I should be doing this mod later this year. I prefer the monitors in the headrests because there are 2 monitors and because the passengers can watch different things on each monitor (to be able to watch different sources on each monitor will cost slightly extra though). Hope this helps.

WOW man 1300 just for the parts. I can get you the monitors for 200 a piece and the vcr is like 100 new. Thats 500 in parts. They are charging you 1300? Speak to them and ask them if you were to bring your own parts would they still install them for 75 a piece. I would love to find a place so that I can get a good install for less the 100 a piece. I guess I will have to ask the guys in circuit city about their prices. Thanks for the qoute!

I'm looking for a gps for my 2000 eb... any suggestions? circuit city had an overpriced alpine and then they said that they didn't know where they would be able to mount the monitor.

I gotta tell u guys that all the responses were very very helpful. I decided to go with the dual headrest setup. One reason I will still be able 2 see out of the rearview mirror, two I did'nt have to cut the headliner and the most important of all it was only $500.00 for both monitors and intallation with a full warranty!!!
Michael as far as the consle install in concered:
I first bought a MA (mobile authority) monitor at a shop called Frys Electronics here in L.A. with a Blaupunkt DVD player for $299.99 and the damn monitor broke, but I was able to replace it with a Audiovox 5.6 inch monitor that has the trim ring with it to hold the monitor in place. All my boys at Al-Eds autosound and Security (Thanks Jeff!!!) had to do was cut the console and slide the whole unit in place, and take a piece of ABS plastic to create a "wall" to keep things from falling through the slot. If U want/need any kind of help I'll contact them or u can do it (323 751 4111 ask for Jeff concerning this matter). It's a nice touch I can watch the monitor and not worry about cops pulling me over, nor have to decide whether I want to watch it or listen to my stereo, I can do both!! The audio channels are run through the Auxuillary ports on my Equalizer. All in all I'm very pleased and I have'nt seen anyother Expy's with this set up. I think the last thing I'll do besides rims will be a custom sub enclosure, now that's gonna be expensive!!
I will post pics as soon as possible otherwise I do have a page on sounddomain.com check it out, It's a ongoing work in progress! THanks again everyone...My EXPY

What monitors did you go with? I ask because I have the same 5.6" Audiovox that you have in your console in each headrest in my Expy. I am currently running a cva1005, dva5200, pxa-h510 (dolby digital), DA Hex S600s all around, and a JL stealthbox. I was running PPI amps, but have sold them and will soon be running two JL amps (300.4 and 500.1) more than likely mounted in an enclosure in the back of the second row seats.
Actually I have the same 5.6 audiovox monitors all around...model number LCM0565 it's on the website with my Expy on my last post check em out....I love the picture quality...
98_Expedition,
Can you please tell me where you got the monitors and the installation for $500? Is that just a deal you got or can you hook up others? I am located in Santa Monica. Where about are you? Would it be possible to come by some time and take a look at the finished products? You can post here or email me at robertc128@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Robert

98_Expedition, I agree with you regarding the pic quality. I really have no complaints at all. I took a look at your site and the truck looks good. I'm on SoundDomain quite often under the username Spyder (I used to drive a convertible Eclipse).
