New '21 FX4 Expedition

Due to hurricane Ida our 5th wheel camper was totaled. No plans to get another so I ended up selling my '17 F350 dually for what I paid for it 4-1/2 yrs ago. Bought a new '21 Expedition FX4 with max towing package if we ever get a smaller travel trailer. Rated to tow 9,200 lbs. Mostly got it for road trips with the wife and my daily driving vehicle. Rides and handles great plus gets up to 23 mpg @70 mph.

Magnetic metallic with black interior.

4 wheel drive plus all wheel capable. 3.5 Ecoboost with the 10 speed auto. and 3.73 gearing. 18" Painted wheels with Michelin all terrains.

Before the storm.

After the storm and small tornado rolled it.

Just the slab is left. Truck made out OK sitting under the carport.

Glad you and your family is OK.

Materials can be replaced. Lives cannot.

Those Expeditions are really sharp!

Total shame on the camper but glad you are ok. I see a lot of Grand Design travel trailers and 5'ers at the camp grounds. I saw a ton of them this past weekend at Huntington Beach State Park - they look very nice.

Insurance paid off what we owed. We took a hit on the down payment and paying 3-1/2 yrs of notes. Campers may be one of the worst investments ever. Glad no injuries or loss of lives. No workers to rebuild..material shortages are big problems also.

So true and glad we survived the 150+ mph winds with tornado's randomly hitting.

Wife had a 1997 Expedition that she really liked. Since new trucks are so scarce we decided on getting the Expedition off the lot. At least they came off the sticker with the plan through the wife's company she works for. Had to come out of pocket a few thousand for tax but what I got for the dually I was able to pay it off cash. No notes on a new vehicle is nice!! Grand Design makes a nice well built camper and seem to stand behind their products. No major problems in the 3-1/2 yrs we had it. Wifes sister lives in the Pineville/Matthews area of Charlotte close to the Quail Hollow golf course. Real nice area but close to 800 miles from our house so it takes about a day and a half to get there going through Atlanta.

PawPaw, I was looking longingly at your Banner Elk picture. You might be surprised to know it hasn't snowed again up here since you left and recorded that dusting. I live on Beech Mt and even the snow guns can't come on it's been so warm. Wa walked for two hours yesterday between 5000 and 5500 feet elevation in shorts and short sleeved shirts.

It's been the worst Dec in years as far as lack of snow.

I bet Lake Tahoe would gladly share some of their snow!

We live in SE Louisiana so even a dusting is like a blizzard to us!! We're in our coldest weather now as temps dropped from the 80's into the high 20's yesterday morning. In a few days we'll be back in the 70's. Beautiful area up there!! We have a time share in Pigeon Forge but the Banner Elk area is not as crowded. Boone seems to be a nice little town also. Hope you folks get some snow real soon!

We got 8+ inches Monday on our North facing ridge. I dragged out the snowblower and worked it in the driveway for about an hour to get out. Still subfreezing temperatures, so it's hanging around and more expected tomorrow. Hurry back, I liked that dusting "blizzard" you brought.
