98 EB Expedition hose leak+running very rough+ humming after shot off
Hey Folks,
Reachin out from the far reaches of NW Wyoming where good mechanics are hard to find and women are even harder. I have a 98 expedition with a million or so miles on it and it belonged to my recently late Mom, so it’s got sentimental value and I want to keep it going as long as I can. It’s a great vehicle for these parts as well. I noticed I had a detached skinny hose down at the very bottom near the front, easily spotted crawling under from the left front wheel to the middle front. There are two hose attachments there. I’m not sure what the fluid is but a burnt smell can be detected after driving. I reattached it and all seemed fine until yesterday driving at 60-65 it seemed to hesitate, most like a fuel filter or something, no instant power. I went to the PO, a short trip yesterday and it was like I couldn’t get any “grab”. All gauges were normal; all fluids good. The exhaust system is original so I could definitely see something with that, but the engine is like new, a re-man I had installed just last year. We only have a couple mechanics in town and I’d just like to have a better idea or if it’s something fairly straightforward I can do. Any help appreciated
