Question lowered expy

I lowered my expy 2 months ago with belltech 2inch drop with nitro active shocks, it looks and corners great over potholes and big bumps its fine but when i drive on normal driving conditions
freeway & street it is very bumpy sensitive to small bumps,
was hoping to get a better ride all around
im thinking about changing shocks to bilstein or edlebrock but im afraid it my be a waste of money
does anybody have any suggestions please post
Thank you
tony

Tony,

I posted a similar question here a few months back to see what others
had experienced with the Bell Tech kit. I did receive a reply from a guy
who was not happy with the nitro active shocks and just slipped his
stock units back in to smooth out the ride. No bottoming out problems
were experienced (as reported by the guy who replied....sorry can't
remember his name).

My kit has only been installed about a month now and my description
would be very similar to yours. I would add that I really like the look
of the Expedition since dropping it 2" and ability to clean the whole
windshield and 90% of the top without using running boards or step
ladders (something that was a pain in the *** for me and I'm 6' 3").

I kept my stock shocks and will slide them in one of these days for a
comparison. I did want to drive it a while before making a change.

Edelbrocks are nice and may be a little softer than Bilsteins but either one would be great. I think they both make shocks for lowered Expys too.

Talking Belltech

I lowered my Expy with the Belltech 2" drop with Nitro Active shocks back in February. I agree that the ride is harsher, but I like that the truck is more responsive to steering input and has less body roll. Like the others said, you might want to change shocks.

Good luck

With just a little 2in drop you really do not need to change out your stock shocks. If you were going 4in or more then you'd want that stiff shock bec you'll want to prevent that lovely sound of the tires melting the front inner plastic shield and the rear getting pounded into the frame. Even with a 3in drop the stocks do ok..........

2" Lowering spring will sharpen the jolts and make road bumps more noticeable. Performance shocks will further the effect. Are the Beltech springs progresssive rate springs?
I opted for the Eibach progressive rate drop springs and am very satisfied with the ride. I also used the OEM shocks.

Do you guys have any pictures of your lowered X?

What size tires and wheels do you have? I want to lower ours but want to see what a 2" drop looks like with either 18 or 20" tires.

Lowering your X

Do you guys all have rear wheel drive? I looked at the Bell Tech kits and it says rear wheel drive only?

How can you lower your 4x4 X? Two inches would be great, even if it costs $$.

Any thoughts?

Rich

For the 4X4 you can call/E-mail Roger from the F150online store or www.wmsracing.com also has a kit. They even show the height difference before and after.

Did you use the drop spindles? Also, was the install easy or did a shop do it?
