Help! How to Remove Various Parts from 2000 Navigator
Hey all, I've got some urgent inquiries I need help with. I've referenced this situation briefly in another thread, but I have access to a 2000 Navigator that has sat at a garage close to my house for years without being touched. The owner hasn't come back, called, or contacted the owner in years. Anyway, this garage owner is about to scrap this truck. He agreed to let me pick parts off of it, nearly for free. I'm trying to do it quickly before he hauls it off. I even took 2 days off of work to do it. Here's what I need some pointers on in removing:
Center console - this truck has the factory navigation system with the small display screen where usually there's a pocket or the rear AC controls; I can find no screws or access holes to screws at the front of the console; it seems like the display panel has to somehow come out, but I don't see how; I'd really like to have this console
Steering wheel - this question isn't Navigator-specific; got the Airbag center out of the wheel and the center Torx bolt out; I've got a generic wheel puller kit, but it's made with bolts that will thread into tapped holes in the wheel and a pusher bolt in the center; it doesn't seem like this wheel can be pulled that way; what do I need to get this wheel off?
Entire front clip - this includes the fenders, the hood, front end with all lights and molded bumper cover, the header panel, and the inner bumper; does each part have to be removed separately?; I may have a problem if I have to get under the front end; this truck has sat on the ground for years sinking in the dirt, and both front tires are flat, so the bumper isn't far from the ground; please shoot me some pointers on this project as well
What I have picked so far (which is disappointing considering I spent almost all day on it today) is both front seats, which have pretty rough lower cushions but the backs are great (they are heated and cooled, even though in their next life those probably won't be connected), the center 60/40 seat in great condition, the heated/blinker signal mirrors, the original Alpine cassette stereo, all 4 Lincoln wheel center caps, and an apparently unused factory jack; also got one 17" aluminum wheel that was in the spare's location with a flat tire (the actual spare is one of the flats on the front end). Oh, of course, the center console also contains the 6-disc changer.
I'm hoping to find a reasonable '97-'03 F150 again someday and install most of these parts. May take a while, but so what? Back when I still had my '98 F150 SuperCab Lariat, I always wanted to install the Navigator front clip. Never got the chance. Do you all think this part-picking project is worthwhile? Thanks for anyone's help.

Steering wheel just needs a few tugs to come off
Console deck has a screw behind the cup holders under the lid, not sure about the screen itself. On the Expy version there is a screw under the rectangle mat in front of the cup holders

Thanks Patman. I actually felt a little dumb after I realized what I was forgetting. On the console, I just had to remove one Torx screw on the panel with the cupholders and nav screen and just pull. The rest was just those infamous Ford spring clips. Then I was able to get to the screws holding the front of it to the floor. On the wheel, I went to AutoZone and rented a 2-jaw wheel puller and had it off in 30 seconds. The front clip has been the biggest challenge. First I had to get the front end as high up as I could, since both front tires were flat and it had sunk in the ground quite a bit. Started at the front by removing the light assemblies, then removed the header panel (easier said than done), then the actual steel front bumper behind the cover (which contains the foglights), and then went to work on the fenders. Way more fun than I even remembered!! The bolts at the very top corners under the plastic cowl panel are the most fun. Driver's fender is off at this point, hood is almost off (2 bolts holding it on); the passenger fender has one contrary bolt at the very bottom that's got it connected to the running board. I've rounded it off with a socket, rounded it off more with vice grips, tried to drill it out, and even took a hammer and chisel to it. Still won't give. My next step is a cutoff wheel on my drill. But when I'm done, I'll have the entire front clip from a 2000 Navigator, to someday do the F150 upgrade I never got to do years ago. Even took the unique hood latch assembly and the tow hooks. All for about $40 and me cooking in the 100 degree heat for parts of 3 days. And really pissing my wife off. That's the best part. And the great tan (burn)!! Thanks again.
Patman,
Got 'em and it's done! That last fender screw was an SOB! Finally had to grind off the top of the screw, as well as the washer that it had welded to. Holy crap! I've pulled lots of fenders and header panels over the years, but this was by far the most difficult job I've ever done. Maybe it was just the crazy heat making it worse. Probably 1/4 of the bolts/screws just snapped before they would turn. Even managed to split a 10mm socket. Never done that before. Getting a hood off safely with no help was also a little challenging. Now I just need a good F150 candidate to install all my new goodies on! Just my luck, when I have the vehicle, I can't afford the parts, and when I have the parts, I have no vehicle to put them on. Take care.

Patman,
So now I have basically the whole front clip from the Navigator. Theoretically, should I be able to one day bolt it all onto an F150? Was there anything structurally about the Nav that's different from the F150? I did not get the bracket/support that the hood latch was bolted to. I am hoping it's common to the F150. I did take the hood latch itself. I just cut the cable, and I'm assuming I can use the cable from the future F150. I also left as much pigtail as I could on each light, keeping the connectors in case they were unique. Thanks for your help.

I believe the header panel (between grill and core support) was different, but the core support itself is the same.
But I could be wrong....

Quick question cause I just found out that you could put seats and the console from an expedition and navigator into a ford and I just don’t know the years that would fit on my 97 F150. And another question if you don’t mind is does it matter that my truck is a reg cab and would they still fit.. any info would help thanks
1997-2002 Navigator/Expedition
yes it will fit. make sure you get floor brackets as well as the console itself. Also the bottom trim piece up against the base of the dash is different, grab that from the junk yard too. Just a few trim clips hold it in
