HVAC blows out whatever vents it wants. Starts on defrost and switches whenever
I have an 05 navigator and my HVAC like to act the fool. When I start the truck is always blowing to the defrost. I change it to the front vents and then wait. About 20 minutes guess by then it finally switches.
If I leave it on AUTO it may go to front vents in 30 seconds. I know this is a one off since auto is well auto.
This gives me the indication that the vacuum lines are intact. I also switched out that vacuum box thing up against the firewall.
Can you fine folks think of any reasons why this thing won't switch to front vents?

I don't know why you ruled out a vacuum leak since I don't see anywhere where you actually TESTED the vacuum supply and distribution.
In any event, it's a vacuum-related issue. That means it could be in the vacuum supply, the vacuum switching controller or network, or the vacuum distribution. You will either need to troubleshoot it logically or continue to guess.
