Can anyone tell me if the remote starting system provided by Ford should allow you to start your vehicle by pushing twice the autolock buttons on either side front door. My dealership says the system was designed this way, but to me it seems extremely hazardous.

You probably have the Code Alarm add on remote starter to your keyless entry. It sees the signal from the locks to start it.
