Removing hitch?
I have a Expy with the tow package and I thinking about removing the tow hitch. I've looked under the truck and only see eight bolts holding it on. I was wondering has anyone done this and is it possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yep that's it. Of course it's those 8 bolts and nuts that are the subject of the recall. Have you had yours done yet?
And I think the wire harness unplugs from the bracket on the hitch.

I have to admit, this hitch is HUGE. I saw a Black 2000 today with a "hide-a-hitch" I think it is, and wow, did it look cleaner.
Besides, the black so called paint on them doesn't last. Mine looks pretty bad, just a good thing you can't really notice it unless you get down close to it.

Yeah, I was noticing that the hitch is monsterous.
There are 4 hitches (2 @class 3/4 (4 being the weight distributing) and 1 @ class 5) that are available that are almost totally hidden.
One from Hidden Hitches. (the class 5 is only from Hidden)
And a new round one from U-Haul.

I like the new U-Haul one personally.

I took mine off for a cleaner look. Make sure you have a long pull bar--- ie. leverage, lots of it and some one or something to catch that huge thing when it comes down. I put a two ton floor jack under it. Worked like a charm.
Would like to buy a tow bar
I'm looking for the factor tow bar. I have a new 2001 X.
