A/C Problem with external ambient temperature sensor

A/C shuts down when external temperature shows/goes below 30 degrees Fahrenheit when actual temperature outside is 95 degrees? What sensor should I replace? I don’t understand why the outside temperature sensor controls the auto temperature inside???
