Will it hurt?

So I have a 2002 Navigator. I have just been waiting for the air ride to go out. The other day it was really cold. I cranked it up to warm up before I was ready to go. When i got back in the check suspension light was on. I restarted the Navi and the light was off. The compressor kept coming on and going off for at least 5-10 minutes. I pulled over and turned the air ride off.

I am looking at my options including a spring conversion. But for now, will it hurt to drive the Navi with the air ride off?

Thanks in advance.

I drove around for about a week with my air suspension out and it was almost sitting on the bump stops. It didn't hurt anything except I got a headache every time I drove because you bounce around a lot. Others have driven their expy's with it off also. But you might be putting stress on the steering components. So its up to you.
Ps. I have a complete rear conversion kit for sale if you need one.

i wouldn't. to much bounce. its like riding an old three wheeler with no suspension. you pretty much have the tires to shock it all up. thats not really good. it wont hert much either. just you might scrap more. but i would convert it b4 too long.

Hmm.. it didn't feel that bumpy to me when I drove it. But the roads around here are pretty smooth.

I did the conversion so I wasn't to worried about wrecking the bags or the shocks for that matter. On that note anyone looking for "gently" used airbags?

Well, I'm guessing the leak isn't in the bags since it rode so well. The morning the compressor kept coming on it was pretty cold (~29F). The other morning it was ~40F and I turned the air suspension back on. The compressor kicked back on but not for very long. I'm wondering if the cold weather made the union near the compressor shrink just enough to leak. I guess it's time to get some soapy water and go hunting.

But, when the load leveling suspension goes out, it's getting springs.

Sounds like you have a temperature crack. Which sucks... Let me know if you would like to buy a whole rear suspension air to coil conversion kit. It has shocks and coils. I also have one front coil over for sale also.

I'll probably ride this out a little longer and see what happens. If I change my mind I'll let you know.
