im goin down to the local ford dealer to test drive a loaded out '01 Epxy 4x4, price is right and only has 70k on it. wondering, since its based off the f150 platform, if I'd lift it i can use a f150 kit right? i cant really find a kit for the Expy thats more than 2"

1st off...awesome 95 there. very nice

but yeah, the 1997-2003 Expy shares the same basic setup as the 97-03 F-150. you could probably buy the F-150 lift kit and make it work

seems like most people however use the TB crank, 2" spacer out back and then a body lift.

gotta be careful lifting them too high. These puppies are very top heavy.

isn't 'the 97-03 Expy a solid rear axle?

or are they solid axle, but with coils out back?

sorry if I misinformed. I know the fronts are the same though

And if you think you can only find a 2" lift for the expy your dead wrong....sorry but theres plenty of kits out there if you just shop around...RCD, Rancho and Fabtech all have good kits and they will give you 4-6" of lift...Just my .02

The front lifts are exactly the same, but like they said the Expy has rear coil springs and more rear susp crap you have to deal with to lift it. Also the lifts are twice as much then they are for a 97-03 F150. I have a 1998 F150 4x4 ext. cab I installed a 6'' Fabtech cost me $1400 just for the lift. I also have a 1997 Expy EB 4x4 I just checked on the same lift for it and its $2700!!! Theres no way im go to pay that. Thats crazy. Im going with the 2'' TB crank kit and a 3'' body lift with 35'' SSR's

What is the purpose for the lift? How much tire do you want to run? Ive got 33,s on 16x10,s with 2" spring spacers and turned torsion bars

scratch this thread... cant get the expy, my bank wont finance anything older than a '03...

well, i need the lift for my trips to Colorado and Tennessee , some of the roads/trails need at least (i mean minimum) 33" tire to clear rocks and stream crossings... i had no problems with my truck so i'd like continue running at least 35's

Sorry to hear that aswaff400. Banks these days are making it impossible for people to finance used cars. My banks are the exact same here in Michigan They would rather you buy NEW so you cant afford it, and repo it. Also not to many prople have a bundle of cash just laying around. Good luck!

the 97-02 expy can be lifted w/ the same 6'' fabtech kit as the 97-03 F-150. however, the rear requires a separate link lift kit that fabtech manufactures as well. this is where the hike in price comes from.
