what differences are there between last expy and current?

the last models I know didn't have the 6spd tranny and supposedly a different 5.4L motor? obviously the exterior changed... I think the brakes changed as well? just curious what I got in on by getting an 07 imo it looks better lol. thanks,

Tom

i think the 07s were mostly like the 03-06 mechanically, the 08+ received the most mechanical changes

if the suspension is the same the rize lift should work on the 07 then? but the motor being different causes the limited aftermarket performance like chips. only SCT and a couple others or one other even, do something for it, I've looked into mods already and certain things don't transfer over and I think the lift was one of them but it's been a while since I checked and I think I'll check again

you have to split it out by years

Motor:
2003-2005: 5.4 2v motor
2005-2006: 5.4 3v motor
2007-2010: 5.4 3v motor - but the MAF and intake were modified slightly. not the same as the 05-06 5.4 3v

2003-2006:
basically is an 2004-2008 F-150 with a bedcap. same front suspension, same tranny, same dash, pumkin. Has IRS though instead of solid axle.

midway into 2005, made the swap to a 5.4 3v motor.

2007+:
basically is a 2009+ F-150 with a bedcap.

slightly weaker 6 speed, introduction of the EL.

different hood, some tweaking of the fenders, tailights, new headlights

the front suspension is identical to a 2004-2009 F-150 still. same shocks, coils.

from what I can tell, the brakes are the same.

the biggest problem with the Rize kit on a 2007+ is going to be the IRS. that part is going to suck. Ford monkeyed with it a bit when they did the EL changes. Looks like some extra sensors for the RSC and ABS...and a few dimension changes.

I've looked at my Tech Manual...but I never really got in-depth.

Does the '07 Expy motor still have the "stuck spark plug" issue?

When did they start "fixing" the problem on the F150s, 07? Either way, I'd guess it'd be the same same year for the Expy.

nope

the 2004-2008 5.4 3v motor has the plug issue

in late 2007 (Novemberish), Ford put a new head design out for the 5.4 3v and 4.6 3v motors.

all 2009+ 5.4 3v motors are fixed 100%. It just depends on your build date if the motor in your 2008 is fixed or not.
