Post Squeaky Steering BOx

Went to the dealership that I bought my 97 Expy and had them listen to a squeaky noise coming from the front end when I turn the wheel especially when not moving or slo 5-10mph. Service guy told me I need to have the shock assembly lubed. Cost $90. Took it to my mechanic and he told me that if you put in on a body lift and turn the wheel it still makes noise and that the steering box needs to be lubed. It is a small project to do he said, I have the extended warranty. Is this covered? It is a sealed part and should be covered. I know I am not going back to the dealership, I will go to another ford repair place.

pyro383,
This problem is caused by the pitman arm. If you have the extended warrenty then take it to the dealer and they will replace it. It is caused from the boot that holds the grease failing. It is a common problem on '97 Expy's including mine, had it replaced and now everything is fine.
