Does anyone know if the Chrome Side rails off a Navigator's roof rack will fit in place of the rails on the Expy?

 

the chrome rack rails on the navi and the mounts are totally different.

the x (my 01) has a flat track on the roof from front to rear.

the navi (a 00) had nothing except for 1 the front, 1 at the rear, and 2 just front and rear from the center. the cross members slide back and forth in the side of the chrome rack.

yes, i am 100% sure that you can put it up there, but i do not know if the mounting screw locations are the same. if you decide to do it, you just need to make sure that if you leave one uncovered or open that you need to fill it with a silicone sealant.

take pics and post the steps if yoiu decide to.

In fact, just yesterday I was able to climb up and take a detailed look at a Navigators roof rack. I do not think I will go to that extent at this time to change it out. Maybe in the future.

I did however change the exterior moldings under the windows with the Navigator's. Only $104 ($8 of that was shipping) from ford parts online.

 

That was nice to know.
I wondered how much those molding strips cost.
If/when the trim on my 01 discolors, i will try to get them replaced under warranty for as long as possible, but will try to paint (colormatch) them (one of the discarded ones) the first time they get replaced.
If the paint adheres good, then I might go that way in the future.
