Post Leather Seats

Has anyone had problems with the edging on their leather seats showing excessive wear. My 99EB (26K miles) is showing through. Upside is while at the dealer to fix my forward washer (which still doesn't work X2 trips) they said no problem and ordered new seats.

With 18K on our "Sport Group" equipped leather, we have no problems at all with the leather looking thin.

My 2000 EB looks good. If I weighed much more I could see the drivers seat getting more worn on the left side where you slide in. You can tell mine has been sat on as it's a little softer but that's it.

Now the steering wheel, Yuk! It doesn't look worn but I'm surpeised. It gets dirty as anything a looks like crap pretty quick. Thta's one thing I really miss about my Jeep GC. The leather steering wheels was a "leather" steering wheel and would have lasted forever and although it would get dirty, it wasn't near as bad and was easier to clean. I'm already thinking about a cover; the OEM just feels cheap.

So far, so good. The leather is holding up rather nicely. Going to get the car detailed, and will have them cleaned for the first time.

Killing a little Saturday morning time too huh?

Just curious if you've installed the bushings and if so, what do you think?

Yes! My 2000 F-150 4x4 started showing wear at the seam on the entry side at about 5,000 mi. When it started I started treating it with Eagle-Ottawa Tanner's Preserve. This slowed it down, but it is 11 months old now and looks bad... the color is simply gone on the ridges, even though I take care to get in without sliding as much as possible. I need to take it in before the 1-year mark... are the dealers hard to work with on this?

Thanks, Dave

My 99 is showing wear and I took it in over the weekend. My svc advisor said they would take picture of it and send it off for approval. I only have 18K on the odo. so I think it should definitely be covered...we'll see I suppose.

'Ride-
Haven't installed the bushings as yet. It rained all over my holiday weekend! The plan is to try again this weekend. I'm borrowing a torque socket driver from my neighbor. Did you check the torque on yours? How close were you?

Jeff,

I haven't checked mine yet. I'm going to bet I'm over torqued but we'll see. I need to try to check them in the next day or 2.

The leather seats on my 2000 EB Expy are showing wear on the drivers side on the edge where you slide in and out, I keep cleaning and putting the Leather protector on, but it seems to be getting worse. Would love to have Ford put a set of those new 2001 F-150 seats in, those look nice.

Filmcan, your right about the 01 F150 seats, but one problem, the back of the seat works manually, no electric switch for the backs. Another great idea from Ford, electric bottoms only.

Got the seats changed finally. Look great and the svc director couldn't been nicer. If you have wear and tear take it in and plead your case. Nothing to lose.

I have replaced several seat cushions for this, Not the whole seat though, And on every one i do I order the bottom and the back covers, otherwise it would look funny with a new bottom but slightly used back. The only ones I've seen a problem with is tan leather. Haven't done any grey yet. And yes they are covered to the 3yr 36K warranty. Not sure on the extended your dealer would just have to run the part # in the computer to see.
