Question Replacement console...?

I asked on another topic board and figured I'd do better by going to the experts. I am looking for a Expy console (or other storage ideas) for my 2001 SuperCrew. Since I added a CD changer my storage compartment is almost useless. Will an Expy console fit without modification in the SCrew? If not, what type of modification is needed. I read a post on the same topic and it seemed like that guy was ready to kill somebody after the intall. Is it really that hard? There is about two feet of space from the front of my stock console tothe front of the dash. This space is wasted and I wanted to make it useful. Thanks for any ideas.

I have no idea on that.
I have seen some serious console mods, but my best guess for you is to check out some custom shops like RoadWarrior or RoadHawk (out of Arlington, TX) or TrailMaster (out of Ft.Worth, TX) or Pickup Riggin (out of Ft.Worth, TX) they might have some ideas for you.
One of the ideas that I saw was to take out your console, mate the other console to it with some rivets, then cover (or have them covered) them as ONE console with some upholstery that matches the interior of your ride.

I know that as an owner of an 01 Expy EB with that big console (with a CD Changer, VHS in it) that there is no room in it. The console needs MORE storage in it, like adapting a glove box door to the passenger side of the console so that the mass size of it is not wasted by not being able to get inside it!!

Good luck and take pics.

Leo;
You're going to find the "experts" in the F-150 community - - they are doing the mod - - not the Expy drivers - - they already have the console installed on delivery.

That said,try the following threads. There is a wealth of info on this subject and Steve (webmaster) has a great search engine.

I purchased a 98/99 Expy center console from LWM in Norman OK(405-360-7998). Cost was $89.00 plus shipping. Installation was relatively easy. LWM included two adapter/ mounting brackets that attach to the Expy console and allow you to use the Super Crew bolts. With the 98/99 center console, the Super Crew captain's chair arm rests are fully functional. A note for those with a six disc Cd changer mounted in the center console: I had to order a Cd changer insert mount for the 98/99 console from my Ford dealer - - cost about $24.00. Also had to drill a new hole (lower than the existing hole) to run the cable to the CD changer. Everything you ever wanted to know about this is on www.f150online.com . Go to Message Boards... then Search .... Search by user name .... "blueflareside" or "FedExPilot". . Best of luck - - you'll like the mod in your F-150.
