Man, that is one nice looking expy!!!
Where did you get the L wheels? I got mine from kar kraft but they are silver(chrome was too expensive).
Ordered my 01 lights from fprd parts online.
Sounds like we have the same taste in mods!!

Skank,
I got the chrome L wheels off tirerack.com as well as the tires. I believe the wheels were 329 each and the tires around 135 each? I love the ride of the Yokohama's. They are a tremendous improvemant over stock. Yes the mod bug has bitten very hard. Skank, what FIPK do you have? 2001 L lights are next for me as well as a widescreen tv monitor.

2K1EXPY- I dont have a fipk. Here in Texas it gets pretty hot during the summer months and Ive heard the fipk kits decrease hp while in slow moving traffic or at idle. So Im still wishy washy on getting one. Did the yokahomas raise your ride height? The F1's lower it by an inch or so I believe.
dcarillo-I have the wheels here, just waiting on the tires to show up at discount tires, they're having trouble getting them!
Kinda jumped the gun on my sig,but as soon as their on there Ill post pics.(gotta figure out how to post them first, never done it.)

Hello,
First, I have the same exact model 01' Expedition with Premium sports appearance package, so naturally I like yours. I have not made any appearance mods yet. However, I have made several performance mods (superchip, K&N FIPK, Flowmaster Series 40 muffler). I want to change my rims from 17" stock to the 20" Harley Davidson. The 18" Lightnings are awesome also. And like you, I want to make install the 01' Lightning headlights and corners. I have several questions for you.
1. Does the 18" rims rub when you turn the steering wheel all the way in one direction?
2. Was the billet grille difficult to install?
3. What made you choose the Trenz Grille over other brands? I am not sure which brands are the best. At www.karkraft.com, they are selling the billet grille from the Harley Davidson edition F150 (original Ford OEM part) for about $80.
Thanks
Dennis

Eeyore,
Sounds like I would like your Expy too..
When I put on my 18" L Wheels and 285/60 R18 Yokohmamas it did raise the ride height by one inch. I like the stance of the tires alot. For the first 500 miles or so there was a very slight rubbing sound if I turned the wheel as hard as possible but I have not heard it in a while. Eeyore, please give me some insight into how all your performance mods helped and what you think is the best bet for our Expy's. FIPK?, Chip?, Everything..
I really want to do something with the exhaust soon and I'd love to see pics of yours. I am very interested in a custom flowmaster system and I'd love to see how yours came out. Take care!

Eeyore,
After researching extensively on appearance and quality, the trenz grill was the best of everything for me. It has more horizontal bars than any other grill and the install was very straightforward. The only iffy part I came up with was when reinstalling the grill and making everything line up right. I ended up using my dremel to make a few minor adjustments but it fits perfect now.
I would not recommend buying the Harley grill. It is a flimsy piece of plastic and not aluminum like the trenz grill. I simply used the same ford logo off our slotted bar grills and screwed it directly to the trenz grill. If you want more info. on the grill install just email me at sgator57@aol.com. Later..

Hello,
As far as performance mods, by far the best one that I have done so far is the Flowmaster exhaust. I love the sound it makes when I step on the gas. I opted for the Series 40 with a 3" pipe outletting through the rear right tire. I chose this Flowmaster because it was the loudest and had the most resonance. However, the muffler guy said most people opt for the milder Series 50. I used to own a F150 with a Gibson Side Swept exhaust, which also made a pronounced rumble when accelerating, but this Flowmaster blows it away in terms of noise. This is my personal preference. I opted not to put a stainless steel tip on the exhaust. I was thinking about getting a Rousch tip sometime down the line. I will take a picture of the exhaust and post it in a few days.
I would then do the K&N FIPK next. I would say they are about equal in terms of performance gains. The new air intake definitely makes the Expedition much less quiet when acclerating, you can really hear the increased air flowing through the engine. I happen to like the noise, but others find it distracting.
I am not sure what all of the mods have done in terms of improving my 1/4 mile time or 0-60mph accelerating time. The only informal test I have done is driving up a really steep hill near my house. Pre-mods, I could only reach 92mph. Post-mods, I can now surpass 100mph.
Once again, I will get pics up ASAP.
Thanks,
Dennis

Hey R2K1Expy: Looks very classy. With the lightning rims do the tires stick outside of the wheel wells? I was looking at getting some MODA 18's with PZero in the same size as yours. The moda rims are slightly narrower than yours but after seeing your pix I think that I might go for your rims if they don't stick out beyond the wheel mouldings. If you could take a pic from behind I would sure appreciate it.
