Question What size radiators in the '01 Expy

You may have seen the issue raging on the truck boards, all of the 2001 F150 owners (as far as we can tell) who purchased the 5.4L engine with tow package got a radiator that is 1.02" wide. Specs for my SuperCrew indicate it should be 2.2", other trucks may be 1.42", but it is clear that Super Cooling is an upgraded radiator.
My question is this, what size radiator do you 2001 Expedition 5.4L owners have whom purchased the tow package (and along with that got the Super Coolong).
You may see where I am going with this, if you have a larger radiator (as expected and paid for) I believe it becomes more difficult for Ford to tell me that the specs changed and my SuperCrew has the correct (smaller) radiator.
Thanks!

I've got the tow package too. As soon as I get back to Texas (I'm in Mass. for the week) I'll check mine. I've wondered since reading about the issue over there.

Thanks Guys,
I appreciate the assistance. It may be difficult to get Ford to own up to a mistake (if that is what it is) but additional information can't hurt.

Just took a look at my 01 Expedition 5.4L EB 4x4 with tow package. It has the 1.42 in. radiator. I checked on the Ford website and it says the 01 Exp with the 5.4L and tow package comes with the 2.2 in. two-pass radiator. I guess they made a change to the 1.42 in. single-pass for the towing package.

I checked my 99 4x4 EB last night. Best I can tell it's bigger than 1". I measured it the best I could and it's bigger than 2" also, and I'm pretty sure that doesn't include the A/C which is in front. There is a lot of "stuff" around there. I know there is a trans cooler, and I think there is even a power steering cooler. I will really have to look at this closer. Definitely bigger than 1.02 inches, although '99s aren't part of the issue. Bad news is I found a leak from somewhere.

One thing to keep in mind, there is a post, (can't remember where) where someone found documentation where the design of the radiator was changed. If they redesigned the radiator to perform equally or better and keep the size/weight down, that's a good thing.

Red face

I did try to check this weekend but wasn't able to determine it's size. I'm going to take the top cover of this week and find out,
Sorry.

FamilyRide,
I agree completely, I am always up for improvement.
But if they tell me that is the case, then I find out that the Expys have the old radiator and the SCrews have the new one (of the same model year) someone should be pissed!

From 2001 Ford Specifications:
www.fordtraining.com
**2001 F150 Radiators**
1.02" 13.97 Fins/Inch
1.02" 16.50 Fins/Inch
1.42" 15.24 Fins/Inch

**2001 Expedition Radiators**
1.02" 13.97 Fins/Inch
2.20" 10.16 Fins/Inch

As I noted in an earlier posting I have the 5.4L and Tow Package and I got the 1.42" radiator. It seems like there is a 1.02" inch radiator that Ford may claim is an upgrade from the standard 1.02". They may or may not be right but I'm glad I got the larger 1.42" one.
