Question Lowering Expy with Lightning front springs?

Hey guys,

I just installed some lowering springs on my '99 Lightning. I am wondering if I could just use the original L springs on my Expy? I know the Lightning sits ~1" lower from the factory than the regular F150.

I do not know if the Expy is the same height as a regular F150 or not.

Anyone pulled their Expy springs out and measured them? If you have, please let me know. I don't want to drop the vehicle more than 1.5".

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I threw my Exp. springs away when I replaced them with Eibach 1 1/2" lowering springs. Otherwise I would give you the demensions. The Eibach spring worked out great. Also installed SVO Ligtning wheels and 285/60/18 Michelin Pilots. Great combo. Oh, I did have to bend the brakeline bracket back and use a round head bolt to avoid rubbing.

Question

to avoid the spring rubbing or what?

I have Lightning wheels on my Expy with 285/55-18s and no rubbing.

Which bolt did you have to replace? Maybe the Expy is different from the Lightning hardware, but I just did a spring swap on my L and didn't notice any potential rub problems with regards to the springs themselves.

Maybe I've completely misunderstood you. ???

The spring is fine. The rim would rub against the brakeline mounting bracket and the bolt holding it on. This occurs at full turn. I had to bend the mounting bracket back and use a round head bolt to provide adequate clearance. The mounting bracket are fairly sharp so I also filed the edges.

Thumbs up

Thanks Slammed,

My stock Lightning springs are 13.5", so this might work out really well.
