Post Sparl plug replacement

Anyone changed the spark plugs on their 5.4 engine yet? It looks like it could be a tough job. Do the fuel rails or lines need to be removed/loosened for access to the rear plugs? Any tips and/or suggestions? Thanks.

Where are thy?

Not having looked real hard, I couldn't even find the plugs on mine!? Granted last set I changed was on a '66 289 about 8 years ago, before I bought my newest Fords. Obviously I can't follow the wires from the dist. cap! From what I've read there's 1 or 2 that are almost immpossible with the right tool and or being Gumby anyway. What's a going price to have a set changed these days, tho I should be long from needing it done, just passed 55k.

Bryan

[Edit] Nevermind, I just found the link in the technical articles section. I'll most definatly be getting it done.

On that note, anything I should plan to do, have done as I'm on my last payment, yeah! So 5 years old, 55k. Tires are due probably about spring, still have ~5-7/32 left. Recently done: replaced front shocks, K&N air filter, tranny fluid... in the plans short term is new battery. Whats the life expantcay of the headlights (25-33% driving is at night)?

If you look below your fuel rails (Stainless lines that runon each side of the intake manifold) you will see COP,s. The COPs are right next to the fuel injectors. The plugs are under the COPs. Not sure what the price is in OK, but here in the Houston Texas area its $250-$500 for a dealer to do plugs on the 5.4 trucks.

Just do the normal stuff. Replace things as they fail (headlights, battery, etc) Keep your fluid changes up to date and all should be fine.

It's a PITA job. Takes 2.5 hours and the fuel rails need to be removed.
